With the launch of Extraordinary Ordinary Day’s third collection #Confession, Fashion Journal features EOD founder Ashley Lim's personal journey to creating this collection.
“it’s the perfect everyday-meets-luxe line” — Fashion Journal.
"I grew up in Seoul, a conservative society, and as a young woman I felt very confined by its moral norms. You can’t laugh too loud or it’s seen as being too masculine. If I wear bright clothing, people disapprove, since standing out is interpreted as being vulgar. You have to take small steps instead of big ones."
With her move to Sydney at the age of 19, this constrained view dissipated as she realised that being an expressive woman in another society was perfectly fine. In fact, it's encouraged.
Inspired by this personal notion, Lim's new collection, #Confession, encourages self-expression by building layers of unique materials into each shoe. These are individual platforms designed to suit a woman's individual traits, needs, goals and desires.
